About This Event:

So much of what we think and feel about sex, lust and pleasure is deeply flawed. Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that sex was more about if you were having it as much as the next person and if yours looked like the way it does in movies and TV. So much of what we think and feel about sex, lust and pleasure is deeply flawed. Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that sex was more about if you were having it as much as the next person and if yours looked like the way it does in movies and TV. This leaves us caught up in our heads, disconnected from our sources of pleasure, and either not wanting sex because it isn’t good or not knowing how to advocate for what we want. When we feel overwhelmed by wondering what’s wrong with our sex lives, we neglect our erotic landscapes and don’t get to know what we desire and crave.

The truth is, so many of us worry during our most intimate moments of connection:

Are they having a good time?

Am I doing things right?

How can I get them to do things differently without hurting their feelings?

Are they turned off by my body?

What’s wrong with me for not wanting this more?

What if, instead, we knew how to use our voice to give ourselves what we need and get what we need from another?

We invite you to a Spoke Circle experience at Temple, a consent-driven play space. Come join us to sink into the present moment, tap into what you need and how to make that known. Using the Japanese art of rope-tying, Shibari, as our guide, we will learn how to be present with our bodies, acknowledge what’s getting in the way and practice the art of communicating what we need in order to access the play space of our erotic minds. We will tap into our own right to pleasure by demystifying eroticism and making it tangible, approachable and safe by focusing on how we feel, think and want.

In this experience:

We will gather at Temple, a space aimed to explore the intersection of mind, body, spirit, and artistic practice. We will sip brewed tea and taste food that will help awaken our erotic minds. We will have 1.5 hours to: witness a Shibari performance by master Shibari partners, discuss consent practices for rope and beyond, practice negotiating touch and embodied check-ins for all types of intimacy and learn basic rope self-tying skills.

After our Shibari practice, we will have 1.5 hours for journaling and deep connection. In this time, you will reflect on what intimacy could be like if you honored where your body and mind was in the present moment, prioritizing connection to your deepest selves as a first step, while acknowledging all the things that get in the way of regularly practicing this. You will leave these 3 hours feeling connected to yourself, your desires, and to others who are on a journey towards centering play and pleasure.

Details:

Temple is shoe-free, so make sure to wear your best socks, paint your toenails if that's your thing, or rock those naked toes. There is an area at the entrance where you can put your shoes.

You can wear whatever makes you comfortable. We recommend comfy workout-type clothes, and if you are receiving rope, tight clothes and a tank might make rope tying easier as flowy fabric tends to get in the way. There is a bathroom next door to change clothing.

Tea, water and light snacks will be provided.

Need To Know:
Please keep your valuables at home, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. There is a hallway to put your belongings in the event room or you can keep your belongings near you for the entirety of the experience.

There will be an opportunity to practice basic introductory rope-tying on yourself, another, or not at all. You do not need any prior experience in rope-typing. You can come to this event solo or with a trusted friend to learn the ties with. Ropes will be provided.
